adventures of the train kind

Trains are a major part of transportation over here.  Every city has a train station, some are definitely scarier than others...
Saturday morning we left bright and early just after 7 a.m. to go down to the train station in Melton.  Last time we rode the train we couldn't figure out how to buy a ticket so we decided we wouldn't and if we were caught, Natalie, Pam and Becky would keep quiet and let me talk us through it and plead American... It's called "Fare Evading." Unfortunately, I didn't get to use my American skills, because we were never caught.
That was inside the city of Melbourne on the light-rail. This time, we were traveling from Melton on one side of Melbourne, through the city and over to the other side to Bayswater, so we decided we'd better not risk the whole Fare Evader thing and bought tickets in the station. It was a good thing, because we had to use our tickets multiple times during the process of getting there.

The main train station in Melbourne is huge.  You get off the train, and then go upstairs to different platforms depending on where you want to go, and then back downstairs to the platform to wait for the train. This photo was taken from upstairs.

I forgot to mention the reason we were going to Bayswater was to visit mom's good childhood friend, June. She and her husband met us half-way at her daughter Emma's house, which was in Bayswater. She was an absolute riot and has such a fun personality.  It was fun to hear them reminisce.  Above is Pam and I with the cutest little 3 year old twins that belonged to Emma, Christian and Hamish.  They were simply adorable and not the least bit shy.
